Hi, I'm Kevin

About Me

Kevin Gasio (he/him) is a voice teacher and music director currently based in Houston. His educational credentials include two associate degrees from Citrus College and a bachelor’s degree in Music from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He is a recent graduate of New York University, where he earned a Master of Music in Vocal Performance (Music Theatre) and an Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy.

 

Mr. Gasio currently serves as a Lecturer of Theatre and Musical Theatre at Sam Houston State University and has previously held teaching appointments at New York University, Citrus College, and The School of Arts + Enterprise in Pomona, California. Students from his private voice studio have been admitted to performing arts programs in schools throughout the nation, including NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Marymount Manhattan College, Pace, AMDA, San Francisco State University, and The New School.

 

Kevin is an accomplished director, music director, and performer. His work has been seen in regional houses across Southern California. Favorite directing credits include Seussical, A Christmas Story, The Addams Family, and The Drowsy Chaperone. As a music director, Kevin has enjoyed shaping the musical journey in productions of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mamma Mia!, The Bodyguard, Newsies, 9 to 5, and Legally Blonde. Kevin spent several holiday seasons singing and ringing English Handbells at Disney California Adventure as a member of the Buena Vista Street Community Bell Ringers.

 

Kevin is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and participated in the NYC-NATS Mentorship Program, studying under the mentorship of Mary Saunders Barton and Richard Lissemore.

 

He moonlights as a freelance graphic designer, and enjoys integrating design and technology into his teaching and directing.
